Maserati Levante Defies SUV Expectations, Sprints to 60 MPH in Five Seconds

There's a common stereotype many drivers jump to when thinking of premium SUVs -- big, heavy, smooth, and slow. Maserati sought to go against that stereotype when designing its new Levante SUV. While the Levante offers the expected premium luxury, it delivers surprising speed and power.

To achieve that power, Maserati turned to a new twin-turbo V6 engine. This 3.0-liter power plant pushes 424 horsepower and 428 pound-feet of torque to the wheels through a slick eight-speed automatic gearbox. Press the accelerator at a dead stop and the Levante will use that 424 horsepower to reach 60 mpg in just five seconds.

It's nimble in the corners, too, leveraging an advanced all-wheel drive system for maximum grip in winding turns.
